TAX COLLECTOR - CENTAX

Centax is the tax collector for the earned income (wage) tax, occupation resident tax and per capita taxes. If you move into the township, you should notify them, so that you receive your bills and tax forms at the appropriate time.

Earned Income Tax (Wage Tax) - Any person residing in the school district and who is employed, even if only part-time or for a summer job, must pay this tax. This tax is due regardless of the person's age, the amount earned, or where employed. For Penn Township residents, the tax rate is 1% of the amount earned. Tax for the previous calendar year is due on April 15th.

Occupation Resident Tax - Any person employed and earning $1,000 or more while a resident of the school district must pay this tax, regardless of where employed. The amount of the tax is $10.00, which is due by November 30 of the current year. Half of this tax goes to the school district and half goes to the township. Bills are sent out for this tax.

Per Capita Tax (Act 511) - Any person who is 18 years of age or over on or before June 30th of the taxing year must pay this tax. This includes students, retired persons, and housewives. For Penn Township residents, the tax amount is $10.00. This tax is due by November 30 of the current year. A discount is available if the tax is paid before the Discount Date noted on the bill and a penalty applies if the bill is paid late.

Per Capita Tax (Act 679) - Any person who is 18 years of age or over on or before June 30th of the taxing year must pay this tax. This includes students, retired persons, and housewives. For Penn Township residents, the tax amount is $5.00. This tax is due by November 30 of the current year. A discount is available if the tax is paid before the Discount Date noted on the bill.
