RECREATION BOARD

Description
The Penn Township Recreation Board supervises, maintains, and regulates parks and recreation areas and facilities in the township. This includes appointing board officers and hiring personnel with funds available to the board from any source.

The Penn Township Recreation Board consists of seven members. Per regulations, two members of the board must be members of the school board or members appointed by the school board; two must be current Penn Township commissioners; and the other three must be members of the community.

If a commissioner's term of office expires while he is a member of the Recreation Board (because of death, resignation, or any other reason), the Board of Commissioners declares the position vacant and appoints another township commissioner to serve in his place for the balance of the term.

Members of the Recreation Board serve five-year terms or until their successor qualifies and serve without pay. Appointments are set so that not more than two members’ terms expire annually.

Public Meeting
The Penn Township Recreation Board meets on the fourth Thursday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the Penn Township Municipal Building, 2001 Municipal Court, Harrison City, PA 15636.
