Motor Unit
Penn Township Police Department, Traffic Division utilizes 3 Harley Davidson Electra Glide Police Motorcycles as an alternative patrol vehicle. Each motor officer is attached to a patrol platoon; the motor officers are accountable for normal patrol activities, along with their additional traffic division assignments. Each motor officer specializes in PA Vehicle Code enforcement, with focus on speeding, unsafe & aggressive driving violations. Motor officers also participate in parades, community events, and extra selective patrol assignments.
Crash Investigation
Traffic Divison officers specialize in vehicle crash investigations. The motor officers are responsible for investigating all vehicle crashes that occur during the officer's shift. When necessary, the Traffic Division works as a team to investigate serious vehicle crashes, such as a crash involving a fatality.
Motor Carrier Safety Inspection
Sgt. Supancic has undergone meticulous training to specialize in the safety inspections of commercial motor vehicles; such as tractor trailers, dump trucks, and garbage trucks. As a "certified commonwealth employee", Sgt. Supancic is permitted to perform these vigorous & time consuming inspections. Sgt. Supancic examines these vehicles for violations of the Federal and State Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, in addition to any PA Vehicle Safety Inspection Regulations and PA Vehicle Code violations to determine if these vehicles and/or their drivers are safe to operate upon the roadways in Penn Township.
