PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION

Description
The Penn Township Planning and Zoning Commission is a recommending board. This board makes non-binding recommendations to the Penn Township Commissioners regarding subdivisions and land developments, zone changes, commercial site development plans, and proposed revisions to the subdivision ordinance. In all cases, the Planning and Zoning Commission's findings are recommendations that are voted on by the Penn Township Commissioners.

Members of the Planning and Zoning Commission serve four-year terms.

Public Meeting
The Penn Township Planning and Zoning Commission holds their voting and workshop meetings on the first Tuesday of each month in the Penn Township Municipal Building, 2001 Municipal Court, Harrison City, PA 15636. The workshop begins promptly at 6:45, followed at 7:30 p.m. by the voting meeting.

Comprehensive Re-Write of the Zoning Ordinance and Map

The Penn Township Planning Commission, at the commissioners' request, have embarked upon a comprehensive re-write of the zoning and subdivision ordinance and the creation of a new zoning map -- a project anticipated to take about 2 years to complete. The Zoning Committee had it first meeting on Wednesday, September 30, 2009. In an attempt to have public involvement with the re-write process, the notes will be posted here. The committee plans on meeting on the last Wednesday of each month; the schedule may change around the holidays.
