NEWS - NOVEMBER 22, 2006 Township Receives $50,000 Grant Penn Township Police Department received a $50,000 grant from the state for the purchase of six additional Panasonic Toughbook computers and a Ford Crown Victoria police cruiser. Police Chief Mike Mastroianni applied for the grant with the help of State Senator Bob Regola who presented the check to the Township Commissioners at the August meeting. The computers will complement the eleven computers already in service that officers use to check the status of individuals and vehicles. The additional police cruiser will allow the truck inspector to exclusively use a department SUV to store his equipment. Penn Township Municipal Park Master Plan Unveiled A steering committee for PTARC (Penn Trafford Area Recreation Committee) presented a Master Site Plan for expansion and upgrading of the Penn Township Municipal Park at a special meeting in September. The meeting was designed to present several different options for the community to review and offer comments. The different options for development that were included in the plans or suggested were walking and bike trails, an amphitheater, a swimming pool, a dog park, and more activities for senior citizens. The committee recorded all of the suggestions and will refine the plans for another public meeting. |
