Departments

Administration

Bruce R. Light is the township Manager and Secretary. He is responsible for managing all of the daily operations of the township and for supervising all of the other township departments, unless statutes say otherwise.

He reviews employment applications, recommends employee discipline and discharge, and employs experts and consultants as needed. He prepares and administers the township's budget, develops the township's long-range fiscal plan, and makes the township's purchases. He keeps the board of commissioners informed about the township's affairs, prepares their meeting agenda, and makes recommendations. He maintains the township's records including the maps of utility lines and properties and the inventory of township property and equipment.

Finance

The Director of Finance, Linda Iams, performs a variety of routine and complex administrative level tasks related to the accounting duties of the township, including but not limited to: preparation of vouchers and daily deposits, assignment of budget account numbers, payroll preparation including quarterly and end of year tax reports, posting of accounts payable for general ledgers, analysis of preliminary trial balances, preparation of monthly financial statements, assists the township manager with the preparation of the annual budget, and pursues collection of delinquent accounts.

Police

Penn Township Police, led by Chief John Otto, has a full-time police department with 20 officers that provides 24/7 protection throughout the community. Community Development

The Community Development Department, managed by Director of Community Development Dallas Leonard, handles applications for subdivision and land development, permits for pools, sheds, houses, as well as, complaints about junk cars, tall grass, and any landfill odor. The department is located in the municipal building at 2001 Municipal Court.

Public Works Department

The Public Works Department, managed by Public Works ForemanThomas Lamacz, is responsible for the maintenance of 90 miles of roads including paving and snow removal, as well as general maintenance of township property. The department is located off of Sandy Hill Road at 3000 Commercial Court, Irwin PA 15642.
